Control your AC, TV and fan with Smart IR
Add your air conditioner, TV and fan to Smart IR: auto-detect the AC model, pick a brand, learn buttons from your old remote.
Updated:
Smart IR works like a universal remote: it sends commands to your air conditioner, TV and fan just like the remote you already have — but from your phone.
Set up Smart IR
Smart IR is added like the smart hub: Home → +, pick Smart IR, choose your home Wi-Fi, Set up Wi-Fi. See Set up the smart hub for details.
Place Smart IR where it can “see” the AC, TV and fan — just like pointing a remote, the signal does not go through walls.
Add the devices to control
- Open Smart IR’s page and tap + → Add a device to control.
- Choose Air conditioner, TV, Fan or Other, give it a name (e.g. “Bedroom AC”) and tap Add.
Air conditioner
- Know the model? Tap Choose model and pick it from the list.
- Not sure? Tap Don’t know the model? → Auto-detect, point the AC remote at Smart IR and press any button. When the app shows the detected model, you are done.
TV and fan
- Choose brand to load ready-made buttons, then try a few buttons to check the device responds.
- Missing a button? Use Learn from remote — tap the button in the app, then within 30 seconds point your real remote at Smart IR and press the same button.
Good to know
- Smart IR only sends commands like a remote, so if someone uses the original remote, the app won’t know whether the device is on or off. The app shows the last command you sent.
- Controlling the AC and TV needs an Internet connection.
- Use it in Automations — e.g. turn on the AC before you get home.
